11/4/06 2007 Plans
SS Racing car owners Scott Sams and Shawn Bright have decided to
sell out and get out of racing. So that leaves Jeff
Johnson's 2007 plans up in the air and undetermined at this
time. Jeff would like to move forward with his own program
with long time friend and crew member Dave Miller in 2007.
But that will all depend what sponsorship we can acquire during
the off season. Jeff would also entertain driving for
someone else either pt or ft until we can get our own program
off the ground. If you're interested in being involved as
a sponsor or being involved with us otherwise email Dave Miller
@
DEMiller678@aol.com We also will be
creating a new look at Jeff Johnson Racing.com in the next
couple of months. Stay tuned for details and changes as
they become available.

Nationals Night Three Notes...
Our luck never came as on the start of our heat race a couple
cars got together in front of us and Jeff had nowhere to go.
We were unable to restart as there was too much damage to our
car. Never got the chance to race on this night and our
bid for the super nationals has ended. We'll fix the car
and run a couple of more specials before we call it a season.

Nationals Night Two Notes...
(Photo

Bruce Badgley) By the luck of the
draw saw us starting 11th in our heat. We knew going into
this race that it was going to be tough to make the top three
spots to make the A-main. We made a few changes to the car
as we felt we were ok but not great the night before. We
hit it pretty close, we came through the field pretty quickly
and saw ourselves in the 3rd with 4 laps to go and closing in on
the 2nd place guy. With three to go Jeff and the car in
2nd got together and we had a RR flat causing us not to finish
and losing out on making the A-main. Nobody's fault, it
was just a product of the hard and intense racing that goes on
at the super nationals. In our B-main we started 10th and
came up to get 4th to salvage some points. We have one
more shot to make it tomorrow in the last chance races.
We've got a fast race car and with a little luck we can still
make the A-main for Saturday night.

Texas; 3. Scott Sturm, Templeton; 4. Ben Kroll, New Franken, Wis;

Moines; 3. Chris Webb, Story City; 4.

Nationals Night One Notes...
Night one saw over 170 IMCA Stocks Cars from various states hit
the track in 16 heat races, 8 B-mains and 2 A-mains...we were in
the 6th heat race and started 6th. Jeff got into a little
pin ball action on the first lap trying to make a pass. No
damage was done to the car but we lost a bunch of time. We
fell to 9th, he was able to catch back up and pass 3 cars to get
back to 6th. But the top runners were just to far ahead to
catch them in 10 laps. It looked as though the 11ss car
was just as fast as the leaders but the opening lap mishap hurt
us. You had to get in the top 3 to transfer to the main so
that put us in the 3rd B-main where we started 6th once again.
Jeff drove to 2nd and looked really fast. We ended up 3rd
losing the runner up spot on the last lap as Jeff tried to move
around to find a way to catch the leader. It was a good
first night for us, we learnt some things and are confident that
we can do much better on Tuesday night.
Heat 06 -- 1. Brian Irvine, Oelwein; 2. Robert Stofer,
Jefferson; 3. Tony Ritterbush, Dunlop; 4. Rod Staats, Columbus
Junction; 5. Eric Stanton, Hartford; 6.
Jeff Johnson, Indianola; 7. Max Leonard, Ladora; 8.
Bill Reetz, Carroll; 9. Jason York, Boone; 10. Randy Andreasen,
Lytton; 11. Scott Mineant, Cumming.
B-Main 03 -- 1. Rick Brown, Kellogg; 2. Bill Reetz, Carroll;
3. Jeff Johnson, Indianola;
4. Kevin Lamberies, Shawnee, Wis; 5. David Bouche, Algoma, Wis;
6. Randy Andreasen, Lytton; 7. Rod Staats, Columbus Junction; 8.
Bob Daniels, Des Moines; 9. Shaun Bruns, Danube, Minn.; 10.
Jason York, Boone; 11. Scott Mineant, Cumming; 12. Amanda Baum,
Sioux City; 13. Mike Goldsberry, Runnells; 14. Joseph Voss,
Belle Plaine, Minn.; 15. Eric Stanton, Hartford; 16. Max
Leonard, Ladora.

Speedway Championship Notes...
(Photo
by
Bruce Badgley) We came into
the night trailing Todd Fisher by 5 points and
Randy Killen by 2 points. For us to win
the championship we needed to have a strong run
and have a couple of other things happen.
We ran strong but only one of those things
happened. No heat races were run, just
features which were lined up on points. We
started third. Killen took the lead from
pole setter and point leader Fisher on the start
as we settled into third. Jeff passed
Fisher about 4 laps into the race and then ran
down Killen who had jumped out to a 5-6 car
lead. Killen and Johnson pulled away from
the rest of the field by a straightaway at
times. A cool night and tacky track made
it hard to pass. The preferred line was
around the top and made for a fast track.
Jeff kept pressuring the leader but just
couldn't get a enough run on him to make the
pass. Killen beat us to the checkers by a
1/2 car length.
Point leader Todd Fisher got knocked out of the race with 5 to go racing
for third which basically cost him the championship and gave it to
Killen. We finished 2nd in the points race by 3 points which is
very disappointing to us as we led the points most of the year.
Official results and final points will be posted when they are
available. This coming week we'll be going to Boone for the IMCA
Super Nationals starting on Monday. Keep in mind if you plan on
attending that hot laps start at 4 pm with races to start at 5 pm.
